Spring Plus Size Outfit Guide for Every Occasion

It’s Friday night, you’re meeting the girlies for charcuterie, and you’ve just gotten out of your everything shower to find notifications from the group chat. β€œWhat are we wearing tonight?”, someone asks. Then you read the replies and the consensus is, β€œJeans and a cute top”.

It’s Saturday and you’ve got a first date with a hottie. They’ve planned something simple, dinner at the hottest new restaurant and drinks after. You want to look cute but not like you tried too hard. You put on your favorite jeans and a cute top.

It’s Sunday and that means brunch with your siblings. You need something cute and easy to wear that your little sister will be begging to borrow. You need jeans and a cute top.

This tried and true outfit recipe from the early 2010s is a perfect formula. You’ll feel cute, comfortable, and confident, especially when you have plus-size jeans and a plus-size blouse made especially with your body in mind.

I’ve put together five looks that will be perfect staples for all your cute adventures.

top/jeans/flats/bag/earrings/hair bow

This leopard blouse is the hottest trend of the moment but will be a piece you grab for years to come. Pair her with these dark wash cargo jeans and a pop of red in the ballet flats. Accessorize with a red hair bow and red flower earrings to match. Finish everything off with a whimsical statement bagβ€”a fresh way to do groundbreaking florals for spring.

top/jeans/flats/bag/bra/necklace/ear cuffs/earrings

For a warmer night, try this rose halter top that is the perfect baby blue for the season. Pair her with some wide leg jeans, a piece that you will want to wear to every occasion from brunch to casual Fridays in your hybrid office. Add matching colorful pearls in fun and bright hughes of pink and green. Finish the look off with matching flats and a fun bag. Don’t forget the perfect strapless bra for large chests.

top/pants/flats/bag/earrings/bra

This beaded blouse and olive chinos are a perfect combo. Mixing high and low together is the easiest way to look incredibly cool. Add lace flats (high) with a wicker bag (low). Add a matching bra that will be another fun pop of color, beautiful earrings, and you’ll be best dressed at any function.

shorts/tube top/button up/mules/earrings/bag/tube top 2/tube top 3

On a sunset date try an outfit with a light layer you can add that’s still fun and sexy as the sun goes down. These dark wash bermuda shorts are another staple for any closet. Pair them with a white tube top and matching statement bag. Add earrings and a small heel in coordinating colors. Finish it all off and tie it all together with a beautiful button up plus size blouse.

By now you know the drill! This fun bubble blouse is an amazing way to play with proportion. A trouser jean that snatches your waist and adds artistic interest to the look will make the perfect combo. Add matching belt and sandals, an incredible shell clutch to live your mermaid dreams, and jewelry to accent the nautical theme.

Which one is your favorite? Tell me on Tiktok or Instagram! Have fun!

The Best Hand Sanitizers For You and Your Kids

Hand sanitizer has become, along with medical face masks, a daily staple for staying healthy during COVID-19. The past two years of the pandemic have I think made us all think of germs in a way we never had before, and I know I always make sure I have my hand sanitizer on me before I leave the house.

The Touchland Hand Sanitizer is the best and I have to tell you all about it. I’ve been using it in the Lemon Lime Spritz scent and it smells so good and protects from dangerous germs. The packaging is flat so they can easily fit in a purse or pocket and each bottle is $10!

To effectively protect against COVID-19, you need to make sure you select a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol content, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Touchland spray is 67% alcohol.

Where To Buy Cute Covid Face Masks Online

Y’all! It looks like we will be wearing cloth face masks for a while. How wild is it that we are living through a plague? Covid-19 has been in America since March now, with no signs of letting up any time soon. Masks help protect ourselves and more importantly others and the CDC recommends we wear face masks wherever we go in public. In some places, like where I live in West Hollywood, there’s a $300 fine for being in public without a mask.

While the main purpose is not to be a fashion accessory, face masks are becoming a huge part of our everyday lives. Let’s look at some cute options that will maybe make you smile a bit behind them.

How To Wear Your Clothes All Year Round

There are a few basic principals to remember when putting together outfits for Fall, but one most overlooked is that you can wear key pieces all year round! Why tuck away beautiful dresses, skirts, and tops once the temperatures drop when, with just a few simple styling tricks, you could instead be seen sporting your favorite items any time. Today, I want to share with you the items and tips I have for being able to wear your whole closet all year long.

1. Accessories Make the Outfit

I am obsessed with this polka dot skirt and I couldn’t give it up for anything. I love the length and the color and the ruffles…I could go on and on. Since I want to wear it no matter how hot or cold it is, I switch out a few key details that make the outfit more seasonally appropriate no matter what time of year it may be. For Summer I paired the skirt with sandals, a light bag, and an airy peasant blouse. Boots, a dark belt, and a dark bag with the cowl neck top instantly take the skirt to a Fall/Winter place. Boom. There you go!

2. Sundresses and Winter Layers

For dress people your winter uniform will consist of the following: A black turtleneck, tights, boots, and your favorite sundress. The easiest and coolest way to wear your sundresses in the winter it to beef up the layers underneath. When I lived in Chicago I wore my sundresses all year round and stayed warm with this styling trick! You can layer with any dress, but I find it’s easiest to make the outfit work when there is black somewhere in the print of the sundress and then you can make all the under layers black for simplicities sake.

3. Arm Tights, Shine, and Denim

When starting with a blouse whose color transcends seasons, the vibe switch of a few key accessories can carry the item through many occasions. Switching the denim from light to dark, and changing the accessories from day to night by adding sparkle, and going from flats to heels are the perfect ingredients to ensure you end up with an adorable winter outfit.

Ariana Grande Halloween Costume For Plus Size Girl ;)

Halloween! The best holiday! You get to dress up as something you love, everyone else is dressed up as things they love, it’s spooky, and you get to eat candy and party. What’s not to love? This year I decided to go as Ariana Grande. I’m obsessed with her music and in all honestly I wanted a cute af costume. But then I got nervous!

IMG_9466.jpg

What will people say when a fat girl goes as a really conventionally attractive celebrity? As problematic as I know she is, I think she’s p much universally considered one of the hottest people alive. What if people thought I was ugly and then thought I was stupid for thinking I was that hot? What if people only compared me to her all night?

I started to get scared of this costume. I was scared of a ponytail extension and a XXL sweatshirt!

Then I thought, lol wut? Since when do we care what other people think? Since when do we only care about being considered hot? Since when do we let fear of judgement dictate our actions? And the answer to all those questions was: we don’t (royal we here).

I want to feel cute and smoll and hot on Halloween so I chose a costume that did that for me! No matter how people judge it, I’m having a spooky ball.

Happy Halloween bbs I hope you have the scariest time ;). Tell me your costume and your Halloween plans on Instagram and Facebook.

Dealing With The Other F Word: "Fat"

Fat! That word. Makes people. So uncomfortable. People spend billions of dollars every year to avoid being called that one single word. We give the word β€œfat” so much power over us, but why? Today I want to talk about how to appropriately handle the word β€œfat” being thrown around and how to be prepared to have those conversations.

IMG_6906.jpg

When A Fat Person Describes Themselves As β€œFat”:

I have heard the following phrase so much over the course of my life that if I had a nickel for every time I could retire: You’re not fat, you’re beautiful. I know! I never said I was β€œugly”, I said I was β€œfat”. The F word makes people so uncomfortable that a fat person describing themselves makes thin people need to erase our fat experience (because how could anyone ever be cool with being fat right?!). Sometimes it’s because the thin person thinks being fat would be a fate worse than death, sometimes it’s because in the past the thin person feels like they made a fat person feel better with that statement, sometimes the thin person genuinely thinks they are helping. No matter the reason for it though, the thin person is showing that they have bias against that word and against fat itself.

If the fat person drops the f word casually and is not visibly upset while talking, leave it alone! Pretend like the fat person called themselves a brunette or something instead. They said a fact about their body, let them! If the fat person is upset about being fat ask, β€œwhy is being fat bad?”. That’s an ally right there, baby! Getting to the core of the issue will help you and the other person figure out the root of that bias and how to tell that root it’s time to get removed from dat heart and brain soil (humor me w this weak metaphor pls)!

When A Thin Person Describes Themselves As β€œFat”:

β€œI feel so fat right now”. β€œI just ate so much pizza, I’m so fat and disgusting”. β€œI need to start my diet, I’m getting fat”. β€œI have this little belly pouch I’m such a fattie”. Unless someone is truly dealing with body dysmorphia, I’m over it. I say β€œI’m not comfortable talking about this right now, can we talk about something else"?” or I leave. But if you want to engage in a discussion on this topic, I would again ask my thin friend why. Why do they think being fat is bad? Why would being fat be such a horrible death sentence? Why when they feel full, or insecure, or greasy, or bad do they think those feelings are synonymous with β€œfat”?

Asking why and getting to the root of things is the only way to go in my opinion. It’ll help you get into the psyche of the person and we can always have more generous hearts when we understand why someone is doing what they’re doing. It’s also good for people to get to the root of their own behavior and it’s always good to evaluate ourselves and figure out why we say or do or believe the things we do!

We all get to define ourselves for ourselves and no one gets to take that truth away from us, but the outside world looks at us and defines us too. If the world looks at a person and would not characterize them as β€œfat”, that person carries inherent privileges with them and examining our privilege is necessary for all of us to do. If you are benefiting from thin privilege in the outside world, and still using your friends inside to reassure you that you are not a β€œfat, disgusting, pig” then that’s harmful. If a person that anyone in the outside world would call β€œfat” wants to calmly and objectively define themselves in that way, let them!

My goal is always to help people feel good about themselves. If a fat person claiming their identity and proudly define themselves as fat makes them feel good, we should let them! If a thin person is using words in a harmful way against themselves, let’s ask why and get to the root of the issue so that they can define themselves in more positive terms! Let’s learn to love ourselves and unlearn that β€œfat” = ”bad”. It does not.

Tell me on Instagram or Facebook where you think I’ve gone right and wrong in this post! I always love hearing your thoughts.

Why Forcing Your Child To Diet Is Child Abuse

I’m here today to write a blog post that I wasn’t expecting to write, but I got so triggered last week by TW: diet culture and kids being forced to diet (or now potentially kids being forced into weight loss surgery) that I had to interrupt your normally scheduled blog programming.

WW (the artist formerly known as Weight Watchers) has released a new app and diet program. For CHILDREN. called Kurbo. ALL THE WHILE. We are now dealing with mouths being forced shut with magnets and weight loss surgery becoming newly available for children. I’m officially SO TIRED and SO OUTRAGED that I feel compelled to share some truths from my youth.

I was forced into diets for what felt like my entire childhood. I was always either starving or secretly binging. I was an overweight kid. My doctors hated that and it embarrassed my father and so everyone went along and I was forced to diet.

At nine, I was counting calories and worrying about my appearance over everything else. At nine, I was taught to hate myself. At nine, I was taught that I was worthless the way I was and I better change or no one would love me. I had daily weigh-ins and ate dressing-less salads with bare chicken breasts while the rest of my family had full meals. Forget fractions or stickers or crushes, I was worried about my thighs.

I was hungry all the time when I was a kid. I was restricted to as low as 500 calories a day at some points. I was constantly starving. I would scarf down sugar-free jello by the tub-full because it was one of the only β€œfree” foods I could eat. My diets were all doctor-supervised by Kaiser Permanente, and were all sold to my parents under the guise of being β€œa lifestyle change” and β€œnot about looking skinny, but about being healthy.” Healthy was starving and sugar-free jello.

172327_108184639260063_6822176_o.jpg

Spending so much of my childhood dieting stripped me of having one. It was torture. It gave me an eating disorder that I still deal with today. I was playing every sport and was super active, and yet I needed to lose 5 pounds or it felt like everyone thought I would die. Dieting was incredibly detrimental to my mental and physical health.

I was taught to be afraid of food. I was told that I was weak and lazy and worthless unless I could survive on a calorie count that was well below what the U.S. legally considers starving. I was taught that feeling good, energized, and satiated was wrong and unhealthy. That in order to be healthy, I needed to be starving. I was taught to ignore my body and my feelings. I was taught that how I looked was more important than how I felt.

Dieting is detrimental to everyone’s mental and physical health. 90% of eating disorders begin with a diet, 30% of all diets end in an eating disorder, 99% of all dieters gain back all the weight and more, and yo-yo dieting increases your chance of high blood pressure, diabetes, and early death. In the 90s, BMI charts were slashed to sell diet products. There is not an obesity epidemic. There have always been fat people. Weight is not an indicator of health. It’s widely accepted that staying at an originally considered β€œoverweight” weight is much healthier than losing a bunch of weight and then gaining it back, yet people still don’t understand that dieting is dangerous. ESPECIALLY for a CHILD who is not able to give CONSENT to the DIET.

Weight Watchers can rebrand themselves as being about β€œwellness” and β€œhealthy lifestyles” all they like. Consenting adults who enjoy the community and help that Weight Watchers gives them should go and enjoy! The truth of the matter remains though, that the WW launch of The Kurbo Dieting App for Children is about profit. They know diets don’t work. They know that this app will turn dieting children into dieting adults. Weight Watchers is a company that wants to make money. (The US weight-loss industry grew to $72.2 BILLION dollars last year.) By releasing Kurbo, they are able to turn children into lifelong customers. *a Ka-ching sound chimes over and over again across the USA*

171411_108185019260025_1528136_o.jpg

Please. Think about the message you’re sending a child when you force them to diet or talk about a diet in front of them. Think about the mental damage. Think about the physical damage. It’s child abuse. It can be hard to stand up for yourself or a loved one to a Doctor, but think of the cost of not. Let’s teach our children to eat food that makes them feel good. Let’s teach our children to listen to their bodies. Let’s teach our children that they are worth more than their measurements.

Were you forced into diets as a kid? What do you think of this new Weight Watchers ap, Kurbo? Tell me on Instagram and Facebook.

Dating Guide For Fat Girls: Plus Size First Date Outfits

You did it! You’ve got a first date planned with someone really exciting! Yay! But!!! Now comes the tricky part: what do you wear?! You know I gotchu. Today we’re gonna talk about three different first date outfit formulas for plus sized bodies.

1. Flirty Dress and Sneakers

ACS_1331.JPG

dress + sneakers + purse + earrings = cutie

ACS_1332.JPG
ACS_1328.JPG

A flirty frilly dress is probably my #1 date go-to item. I love feeling girly and swishy on a date. Find a dress that fits you perfectly, that makes you feel like a million bucks, and that is really cute. Never let it go. Hold it tight. Build it a shrine. You get it.

I like to tone down the girliness of the dress with some tennis-shoes. I chose some trendy chonk insta ho tennies here, but if they’re too much for you any white sneakers will do! I love comfy shoes on first dates so that if it feels right to take a walk around you’re prepared.

I chose a really trendy purse here too, I figure it’s important for people to know what they’re getting into if they want to date me, but any purse you like works! :)

2. Blouse and Jeans

ACS_1357.JPG

similar blouse + jeans + flats + purse + earrings = sophisticated lady

ACS_1367.JPG
ACS_1358.JPG

A perfect blouse and jean combo will take you FAR. Finding options for your body that work perfectly will take some time, but once you do? You’ll have a date uniform for the ages.

I like to go with a billowy blouse in a dressed up material. I can either tuck it in or leave it out depending on if I’m feeling insecure about my tummy on that day or not. For the blouse you’re looking for the seeming to be placed perfectly on your shoulder, no buttons that pull (if there are any buttons), and for it to fall nicely around your hips. Other than those things the sky is the limit on sleeves, color, and pattern!

A perfectly fitting jean can be hard to find! I have talked at length about how much I love these Good American jeans, but if supporting Kardashians isn’t your style (totally get it) I am starting to fall in love with DL1961 so give their skinny jeans a try!

3. LBD and a Heel

ACS_1339.JPG

dress + strappy heel + earrings + choker + purse = classic hottie

ACS_1338.JPG
ACS_1342.JPG

You need a Little Black Dress! You need several! Little Black Dresses are those fail-safe pieces that you know you can always throw on if you’re having an β€œI have nothing to wear” day! The LBD I have on here I love because it is still a little casual, and the buttons and collar give it some special visual interest!

I rarely wear heels, and tbh would probably never ever wear a stiletto on a first date again (I did once and it was wild maybe I’ll tell that story one day but not today lol) so these strappy sandals with a small block heel are the perfect elevation. Again! You want the option to walk around if it feels right! The walk after a date is where the romantic magic happens.

That’s it! After you’re dressed remember to be yourself, be curious, and remember that you’re the shit and anyone would be lucky to date you! It’s about if you like them and if you two vibe together, not about making anyone like you. Tell me your first date outfits and tips on Instagram or Facebook!

The 7 Bras Every Person Needs In Their Wardrobe! (For Big Boobs AND Small Boobs!)

Finding cute and supportive bras is hard! Finding cute and supportive bras is especially hard if you have giant gazongas. Finding cute and comfortable bras is especially hard when you have tiny titties. It’s just hard!

I feel uniquely qualified to give y’all bra tips because I used to work as a certified bra fitter. My time working in the Lingerie Department at Nordstrom taught me a few things: 1. You’re wearing the wrong size bra 2. There are lots of cute options out there once you know where to look! and 3. Many, many, many women have hair on their breasts, it’s totally normal.

In this blog post I’m going to point out the 7 different types of bras that every woman needs in her wardrobe and I’ll recommend some different options for both small and large boobie babies. Then I’ll go through my most worn bras and why I need all of them (because I’m a hoarder)! Yay!

IMG_3710.JPG

T Shirt Bra

You need a skin colored smooth bra that won’t show under clothing. This is your most basic option of bra. You need something that won’t give you cottage-cheese boobies under thin tops and will match your skin tone under light colored and/or see through shirts!

Big Boobies Little Boobies

The Natori Legend Full Figure Bra is what I use! It is fulllllllllllll coverage. Like, it’s basically a turtle neck. But under a t shirt that’s what I want! A full coverage t shirt bra on big boobs ensures you don’t get a visible line and that’s what it’s all about. For darker skin tones try the Nubian Skin Naked Bra.

The Simone Perele Andora Demi is a perfect t shirt bra for smaller breasts! There is an impressive color shade range and delicate details to make this everyday bra the one you reach for the most in your closet. Calvin Klein bras are also really good, but their shade range is not.

Unlined Bra

I wear an unlined bra 99.9% of the time. My unlined bra is lace, but it doesn’t have to be. It can be a smooth fabric, unlined just means that the cup has no shape on its own when it’s off of your body. I own a beige and a black and I wear it most days. I like to have a really comfortable, really supportive bra that is still beautiful. Unlined bras are also perfect for any thicker top (sweaters and knits) and they feel a little lighter which I love because I run hot.

Big Boobies Little Boobies

The Panache Envy bra changed my whole life when I put it on! I am a 36GG in this bra and it’s the most comfortable bra I’ve ever owned while still being so, so pretty and sexy. I am a firm believer in wearing undergarments everyday that make us feel confident and beautiful and seductive, not just when we have a date. The Envy gives me the support and the shape that I need without having to sacrifice any cuteness.

The Wacoal Embrace Lace Bra is a classic really. There a lots and lots of really beautiful and practical unlined bra options for smaller breasts but I think this Wacoal bra has to be my favorite (plus it does come in a wide size range! I own this bra in a few lace variations including all white! It’s so pretty under sheer things in the summer it’s to die for. Anyway! I digress.) The Embrace Lace is a pretty seamed lace bra that is also comfortable and stretchy so it will form to your smaller (or larger) chest! It’s a classic for a reason.

Strapless Bra

Do not be afraid of strapless bras! You just need the band to be tight enough to keep your boobs up (and all your bras should fit like that btw. Get over β€œback fat” rn. Embrace it. You need a snug band). The only strapless bra option as far as I’m concerned is the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless bra. It’s perfect and can fit anybody! You need it!

Big Boobies Little Boobies

Check periodically throughout the year, they usually have a brown color as well (they need to make it a permanent addition to the line!). It’s an amazing bra, though. A good strapless will open up your wardrobe in ways you’ve never dreamed of before! Hello strappy tops and halter dresses!

Plunge Bra

A plunge bra will let you wear all those plunging necklines you’ve always wanted to try! Plus they can be more comfortable for some people because a β€œplunge” bra means that the center gore is smaller, so it won’t poke into your ribcage if you have a problem with that.

Big Boobies Little Boobies

Sexy cleavage alert!!! The Freya Deco bra plunges down low and has a way of pushing the puppies together in the best way. There are usually tons of different colors (I own this bra in black, sherbert, fuscia, pink) so search around for fun patterns and prints!

The Natori Feather is such a go-to classic bra for so many women! It’s also v size inclusive! I own this one, but it’s best on smaller boobies. It plunges super low and has really pretty lace, but is also really smooth under shirts so this could double as a pretty t shirt bra as well! The Feather will change your life.

Sports Bra

If you don’t workout then disregard this one! But if you do! You’re going to need a sports bra. It’s important to wear a sports bra while working out because it’s usually made of materials that wick away moisture!

Big Boobies Little Boobies

The Wacoal Underwire Sports Bra is an amazing choice for larger chests. It’s very supportive. The underwire makes sure you are locked and loaded and ready for action. It can be painful to do the activities you want to do when you’re bouncing all around, this bra helps make it easier!

Support isn’t really a concern for smaller chests so pick something super cute out! Nike is a really great option for support and style.

Bralette/ Wireless Bra

You know those days when you don’t care about support, but you don’t want your skin to touch your own other skin? You need a bralette for those days. Bigger chested people are never going to get good support from a bralette, and smaller chested people will never have to worry about that, no matter your predicament, everyone needs a bralette.

Big Boobies Little Boobies

Calvin Klein has a very trendy and now inclusive bralette. Feel like a supermodel while you netflix and chill in bed!

This Spanx bralette is utilitarian but it’s something you could comfortably wear every single day! There are also tons of beautiful lace options in bralettes for you! Try free people or wacoal if you’re in a fairy queen mood!

Sexy Bra

I’m a firm believer in wearing lingerie every day for yourself and not for a partner…BUT it’s fun to have super sexy special occasion bras. The strappier the better. If you’re not making your partner a little bit scared you’re not doing it right.

Big Boobies Little Boobies

Elomi nailed it with this one. The straps on top are so cute! They’d be so flirty poking out of a black floral mini dress! The possibilities are endless with this cutie.

Chantelle really gets how to make sexy and beautiful lingerie. Leave it to the French. The bows are the cutest. You’re a present and it’s time to unwrap!

Honorable Mentions Include:

25 Sale Accessories That Are Perfect For Summer

I live my life by a very simple principle: β€œaccessories make the outfit”. My Momma has always told me so and she knows what’s up. And so: rings, earrings, shoes, bags, scarves, and anything else I could turn into a hair accessory became my best friends. I may have been too fat to fit into every clothing item I wanted to, but a shoe or an earring or a hat would always work.

I’m wearing a size small here. Really goes to show that size on the tag means nothing!

dress.printed dress.sale dress

Accessories became a way for me to get the sweet hit of getting-something-new-dopamine that capitalism has conditioned us to crave without having the mental breakdown of jeans not pulling up past my thighs. Fitting rooms are a much more fun experience now, but I still am deeply fond of my accessories. So! Today I have rounded up 25 of my favorite Summer Accessories that just also happen to be on sale (or are really cheap) right now!

Fitting Room Breakdowns: What To Do When Clothes Don't Fit

One of the perks of being an actor is having many glorious day jobs ;). One of my day jobs is in a mall…which is dangerous for me…because I shop too much. Shopping has always been one of my favorite things to do. I love to walk through beautiful stores and look at the beautiful fashion, it’s like going to a museum.

Trying on clothes however, is a different story. Actually placing clothes on my body can be v v v triggering for me. CUT TO a montage of me weeping in copious dressing rooms over the years because the size 12 or 14 was still WAY too small on me. Shopping with friends even still usually includes me trying nothing on because a store doesn’t carry my size.

I was shopping in Nordstrom after a shift one day last week and I found so many amazingly adorable things that I will show you now check it out:

I then tried on a size Large dress that I thought was going to be ok. I am in no way a size Large, but this dress looked generous and you never know, right? Lol. Major wrong. My L white dream quickly turned into an XXXL nightmare. The dress was way too small.

ACS_0735.JPG

dress

In the past a dress this small would’ve cued a major mental breakdown and shame spiral that would’ve lasted for hours. I would’ve blamed myself for being so fat, I would’ve cursed God for making me this way, I would’ve told myself that I was so disgusting that no one would ever want me, and it would’ve gone on and on and on.

But last week instead of letting one piece of clothing make me hate myself, I laughed. It’s funny! Look at that dress it’s way too small! The dress doesn’t fit me and that’s O.K.

The next time you are in a dressing room, looking at every inch of your body under horrible lighting and something doesn’t fit, remember these words: The garment is wrong, not you. You are perfect! The dress just is the wrong size. Every single company has different fit models and therefore every brand is going to fit you differently and therefore the size on the tag means literally nothing and therefore the dress is wrong. Not. You.

You are a gorgeous and glorious ray of light from the universe who is magnificent and some fabric doesn’t change that! Look at yourself stuffed like a sausage, laugh, and move onto the next piece of clothing that does fit.

Shop 10 Peasant Blouses You Need For Summer While I Talk About Mental Health :)

Today I wanna show you some peasant blouses to help you live your Ren Fair Slut Dreams while I pepper in some deep thoughts on mental health. What could be better? Talking about mental health can feel overwhelming, or triggering, or stressful so I’m here to soften the blow. Working on my mental health is one of the most important parts of my life and I know it could help you too!

ACS_0661.JPG

DO YOU HEAR THAT? THAT’s the sound of mental health awareness month baby!
🌺
I’ve been in therapy since high school. I went because my parents forced me. The night before my first session I remember being on the phone with a guy I had a HUGE crush on, telling him I was embarrassed about starting therapy and how I thought it was for weak babies. He told me that if it would help then I should think about trying it because it’s not for weak babies it’s brave. I’m really grateful he said that and I’m really grateful my parents sent me because my relationship with my therapist has been the defining relationship in my life.
🌺
Self work is so important to me. Over the past decade it’s what has taken top priority and my therapist is the shit. He is constantly in my corner, being hard on me when I need it, but fully understanding me and what I’m meant to learn in this life. He’s also teaching me energy work and ~*Spiritual Stuff*~ and it’s fucking awesome. I am so lucky he was brought into my life. I don’t know where I’d be without him.

Shopping Intermission

You’ve been reading a lot! Take a break! Look at these cute peasant tops that you could wear to therapy?? :)!

Click the image to shop if you wish!

I have worked HARD on dealing with my PTSD and anxiety issues in general (I was having panic attacks every night and was hospitalized twice), on getting to know who I am and why I’m here, on how to set boundaries and know my needs, how to communicate my feelings effectively and stand up for myself...so much. All my confidence and all the ways I’m secure in my skin come from my work with my therapist. All of it.
🌺
I am not a weak baby! I am a strong woman! I have SOMUCH left to learn. I still get sad and cry or feel insecure sometimes. I am still learning how to more consistently and kindly implement the lessons I’ve mentioned, and I’m sure there’s a bunch to learn that I’m not even aware of yet.
🌺
I think self work is the purpose of life and it doesn’t stop the whole time we’re on Earth. But! I’ve come a long ass way and I’m proud of the work I’ve done. I also can’t wait to see who I become.
🌺
There is still a stigma surrounding therapy or self work. Humans are still expected to automatically just have everything together or else they are an embarrassing failure. So many people are struggling though, and there’s no shame in admitting that someone helping you would feel nice and make life better! Asking for help when we need it is brave and strong, not weak.

Worthy Of Investment: Why You Shouldn't Wait To Buy The Clothing You Want

We hear it all the time. β€œI’m not shopping right now because I’m losing weight” or β€œI’ll buy this dress that is too small as inspiration and motivation for my weight loss”. I’m here today to say that you and your body are worthy of investment now.

These two GORGEOUS dresses are parts of two new inclusive-sizing-expansion efforts from Tanya Taylor and Reformation. Both of these gorgeous dresses are expensive. They are an investment, but I will wear these dresses over and over again because I am worthy of investment and my fat is not temporary.

I am not living my life with the thought of a 20, 30, 50 pounds lighter me someday enjoying herself. I live my life for today! I have no weight-loss plans and I love myself, so why would I not invest slowly and responsibly in pieces that I love and that I know will be wonderful additions to my wardrobe for years to come?

I want to applaud these brands for acknowledging that fat people are worthy of nice things. For knowing that fat people are also in love with fashion just like everyone else. For declaring that fat people are sexy and flirty and fun and we like to wear clothing that reflects that!

Reformation has been the GOAT forever, but now with a more inclusive size range! This gingham wrap dress is the stuff of picnic bitch dreams and I’m obsessed. The linen is perfect, the wrap is plunging and sexy, plus Green is my favorite color. 10/10 definitely would recommend.

Tanya Taylor has had my heart for as long as I can remember and now it fits! The dreamy bright color, the rouching of the chiffon, plus the flowy skirt?? I’m dead and revived more times than Beric! This dress is just as perfect with chucks as it is with heels and for that I will wear this dress until I die for real. *chef’s kiss*

#WCW - Kristina Zias

Today you are in for a real treat! This #WCW feature goes out to body positive fashion blogger, curve model, and wardrobe stylist Kristina Zias! Kristina really is such a source of light in this world. Her style is second to none, she is so encouraging and kind to all, plus she’s fun, cute, and has the most adorable family with her husband and dog on the planet! Kristina was kind enough to let me ask her some questions and pick her brain about everything from her confidence to her career success to her favorite reality TV show.

Ziaslook4-3.jpg

(Katie) Your bio on Instagram talks about being part of the body positive movement and spreading kindness and confidence. Can you talk about why those messages are important to you and what you hope is gained by spreading them?

(Kristina) Confidence is everything!!!!!  It doesn’t matter how beautiful you are, how thin you are, how successful you are...  It matters that you can look in the mirror and say β€œI love me” regardless of all my flaws.  I think when you can accept yourself fully, and are truly confident, you can do anything.  I also think being kind is so simple and easy to do and something we should all practice more often.  I hope I can inspire more women to love themselves, chase their dreams and still treat everyone as equals when they make it to the top.

Curvier women are sometimes reduced to being defined by just our bodies, instead of being recognized for being full and complex human beings! I’m Greek and I love that you've shared a bit about your Greek heritage on Instagram! Does your Greek background or some other aspect of yourself shape your identity and self-image? What other aspects of yourself inform the way you view the world besides your body?

I remember growing up and visiting the Greek Island I am from and seeing curvier or larger women in teeny bikinis or topless and not giving a crap about what anyone thought of them.  What was even better was that everyone around them didn’t care either.  I remember thinking if this was back in the States that woman would feel like she had to wear a black one piece with ruching, haha.  My Greek background shapes so much of who I am.  I feel like I am a citizen of the world, not just the United States.  Traveling, learning new languages, new cultures, eating new foods and meeting people from around the world shapes my perspective on everything and everyone around me, and of course, myself.

Something you've spoken about that really inspires me is how this past year you chose to pursue your dreams fearlessly! (And might I add you really have been killin' it!) What was the hardest part and what advice do you have for people who want to pursue their dreams fearlessly, but don't know where to start?

I know this sounds cliche but you just have to stop making excuses and just do it!!  I used to think I will be ready to pursue this when…. and make up an excuse!  Maybe I need to lose 10 pounds or take another course, or create 10 more blog posts before I reach out to brands, but what I needed to do was just stop delaying my future.  I think if you make a list of 3 things you want to do and write down the steps you think you need to take to achieve them and just start crossing off the list!!

Neonlimetop-1600x2000.jpg

Rapid Fire:

Current favorite TV show: I am so embarrassed to say Vanderpump Rules, but I am not watching any other tv shows at the moment!!! haha wow…

All-time favorite movie:  Clueless

Best lunch spot in LA: Fresh Corn Grill, Gracias Madre

One woman alive or dead you would have lunch with if you could: My Yia-yia (grandmother).  I really did not know her well enough when she was alive but she was such a dynamic woman and very ahead of her time and I think she would have killed it in today’s world.  I would love to learn more about her life and experience being a leader in her community.

Favorite Spanish word you just learned: Chisme!! means β€œgossip” haha

Advice to your 13-year-old self: Travel the world and always say yes to new experiences!!!!!!
